Delahaye was a family-owned automobile manufacturing company, founded by Émile Delahaye in 1894 in Tours, France. Manufacturing was moved to Paris following incorporation with two unrelated brothers-in-law as equal partners in 1898.

Just 5 of the Type 165 were built, 2 had this Figoni et Falaschi cabriolet coachwork. One of the cabriolets was sent by the French government to the 1939 New York Show.

The Type 165 Figoni et Falaschi Cabriolet is an automobile from Delahaye, with rear wheel drive, a front mounted engine and a 2 door convertible/cabriolet body style. The 4.5 litre engine is a naturally aspirated, overhead valve, 12 cylinder that develops 175 bhp (177 PS/130 kW) of power at 4500 rpm.

Delahaye had planned a Type 165 featuring the 145's retooled V-12 racing engine in a shock of extravagant aerodynamic coachwork by Figoni & Falaschi. The bright red, streamlined cabriolet featured Figoni's characteristic voluptuous curves in what has come to be known as the teardrop style.

After the racing success of the Type 145, the yet-to-be-produced 1939 Delahaye Type 165 Cabriolet was selected to represent France at the 1939 New York World's Fair. The vehicle was to include the 145's retooled V-12 racing engine, complete with Figoni et Falaschi coachwork and a hood with a cutout to view the engine.

These were stamped as build numbers 4071 (chassis 60741), 4072 (chassis 60742), 4073 (chassis 60743), and 4074 (chassis 60744).
